ES Student Council Delivers Thanksgiving Meals to Local School
What a beautiful display of generosity! Westminster families donated enough food to give one bag with all the trimmings needed for an entire Thanksgiving dinner for every student that attends CARE Elementary in Downtown Miami. The Elementary School Student Council delivered the bags to the school before Thanksgiving Break.
The seventh grade culminates their study of American History with "Colonial Day." This annual event allows the students to step into the lives of the early Americans in costume and customs. Students try their hand at candlemaking, churning butter, playing colonial games and more.
Congratulations to WCS junior Elisabeth Campbell whose essay "Controversy and Consequence in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged" was awarded in the National English Honor Society's Intellectual Freedom Challenge. She was one of 10 students nationally to receive this award. Read her winning essay HERE.
Engineering class visits Boeing's Training Facility
The WCS Aerospace Engineering classes traveled to Boeing’s Flight Services Training Facility in Virginia Gardens. This facility provides commercial pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance workers with the vital training required to operate and maintain airplanes safely and efficiently.
Middle School students honored the service and sacrifice of veterans at their Annual Veteran's Day Chapel. Marine Lieutenant Commander Hope Irvin, mother to Sedrick Irvin '23, and Army Corporal Cesar Lastra, WCS grandfather to alumna Sophia Gonazlez '17, and current WCS students Caro Gonzalez '19, Bella Gonzalez '23, and Gaby Gonzalez '26, addressed the students and discussed the importance of this American holiday.
Sabates Receives Wendy's High School Heisman Award
Senior Lyannis Sabates was a School Winner for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award. The award recognizes high character student-athletes who have displayed excellence and integrity both on and off the court.
Elementary School students celebrated Red Ribbon Week by pledging to live a life glorifying God in body, mind and Spirit! Here is Mrs. Forjan's 2nd grade class with the cast of the Red Ribbon Rally game show after a chapel performance.
Congratulations to the Fine Arts students who received an Excellent rating at the District 8 Competition. In addition, Miles Gulley '20 was named to the All-Star Cast at Districts for his role as juror number 8 in “12 Angry Jurors.”
Last week, our Westminster 6th grade students avidly engaged in discussions and small group interactions during their Digital Citizenship class taught by Middle School Counselor Jane Ash and Library Media Specialist Kathy Ramirez.
Olivia de Olazarra '18 and her skipper, Tucker Weed, won the C420 US National Championship in Cape Cod this summer. Sailing against 150 teams from across the United States and Canada, they were consistent through the 3 days of racing to take the title by 10 points.
